First you are going to have to have the programming removed from you ECU for the factory trailer brake controller. As I assume you liked the clean looks of the factory controller I would recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR. This has a small dash mounted control knob for a clean appearance and simple operation. To connect to the factory wiring you will need the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # 331-TPH-010. view full answer...
The Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 you found will allow you to install a 7-way along with a Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR. The kit contains a 7-way which will plug into the 4-way you already have and includes wiring to run to and wire in the brake controller as well as a charge line to maintain the breakaway battery on the trailer. The Redarc # RED44FR is great for your 2017 Jeep Wrangler as it has a small control knob which you can mount to your dash and will not... view full answer...
Yes, if you are not ready to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED63RR when you install the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK24FR on your 2020 Kia Sedona you do not have to install the black battery cable which powers the brake controller. If you know you are going to install the brake controller sooner than later you might just go ahead and connect the wire to the battery and into the rest of the harness. Then just remove the fuse so when you are ready... view full answer...
Hey Russ, so what you are describing is completely normal for the Curt Triflex brake controller. The maximum output setting is shown on the display when a trailer is connected and the brake pedal is pressed or the manual control is actuated. If a trailer is not connected the output setting is flashed when the brake pedal is pressed or the
manual control is actuated. view full answer...
If the guy who installed your brake controller did his homework he should have gotten power for the brake controller from the factory wiring that was designed for brake controller installs and not from the 12 volt accessory circuit that you replaced the fuse on. So I would check to see where the black wire of you brake controller wiring is ran to. There should be a separate fuse for the brake controller power circuit though which would be the correct one to replace to get the controller... view full answer...
Hi Shane,
Thanks so very much for your purchase from etrailer of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. We appreciate your business and the issue with it not being connected could be due to how a brake controller installs on certain year Silverado's, including 2008.
What you need to do is activate the brake controller and 12 volt power post connections under your hood. It's somewhat lengthy so I have added a link below to a help article which details how to do this. view full answer...
There used to be a plug and play option available from Tekonsha with their 3027-P adapter which would allow you to use one of their controllers like the Prodigy P3 # 90195. Since that is no longer available from Tekonsha you could cut off the factory connector and wire in the Controller # 90195 or use a trailer mounted option like the Autowbrake # 3430001 you found. view full answer...
Hello Chris. What you are describing sounds completely normal and it sounds like your Tekonsha P# controller # 90195 is installed correctly. With the trailer connected the display should show 0.0 when the brakes are applied, and it should show the current gain setting when the manual override is applied.
The P3 has an internal inertia sensor. It senses deceleration and generates an output that is based on deceleration. When the vehicle is not in motion, the controller will not sense deceleration... view full answer...
There are no custom wiring harnesses for installation of a brake controller on your F-53 RV. Installation of the Tekonsha Primus # TK90160 or any other brake controller will require splicing for installation. view full answer...
A lot of the manuals for trailer brake controllers will have a section in Spanish. For example, the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 has the instructions listed out in English, then French, and then towards the bottom is Spanish.
The instructions for this controller are attached to this page for you to check out.
I wasn't able to find any instructions for an OEM controller for your Chevy Silverado though. If you have a specific brake controller in mind just let me know and I'd be happy to... view full answer...
Hey Ron,
We don't offer an all-in-one kit but we do definitely have what you need. For the hitch you'll want the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13077. For the wiring you'll need the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT. This will give you a 4-pole connector to attach to a trailer without brakes.
In order to connect to a trailer with brakes you'll need the # ETBC7 along with a no-drill mounting bracket # 18136. With... view full answer...
The wiring on newer vehicles like your 2017 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 3500 is a lot thinner than on older vehicles but it still can be used to install a brake controller as it's only a signal wire. We do recommend the P2 part # 90885 pretty highly as it's been really good for us but the Reese Pod is made by same company as the P2 and it would work just fine. view full answer...
Yes, you can use the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV on a trailer being towed behind a 5th wheel. You will want to also use a Curt Echo # C51180 brake controller with this to control the trailers brakes when stopping. The only reason the systems wouldn't work is if they are not getting a sufficient power supply from the tow vehicle which may require you to run a dedicated power wire through the 5th wheel for the rear trailers 7-way connection. view full answer...
Hey Remi, thanks for reaching out!
Yes, you can use the rear brake light at the back of your 2018 Cadillac XT5 (or any light that flips on when the brake pedal is pressed for that matter) to get the stop light function for your brake controller.
An alternative option would also be using the Roadmaster Universal Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751000 that installs under your dash if you'd rather use this style instead of routing a wire from the back of your vehicle up to the front. view full answer...
We can definitely get you set up. For a 7-way wiring harness for your 2024 Honda Pilot trailsport I recommend the Curt T-Connector # C35ZV which will plug in to the existing tow package connector at the rear your vehicle. I do also recommend getting the # C58000 mounting bracket which will allow you to mount the 7-way plug right next to the hitch.
For a brake controller my recommendation in the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR. The main reason I recommend this one is because it takes... view full answer...
Hi Vijay,
Since you're wanting to go with a wireless brake controller you can use the Curt Trailer Connector Adapter # C57672 you were looking at and just cap off both the yellow and blue wires with some electrical tape. These can be saved for use later on if you want a hardwired brake controller or have a boat trailer with a reverse lock out solenoid. You'll need to pick up some 10awg wire # 10-1-1 to run from the black wire up to the battery and a 40 amp circuit breaker # 9510 inline... view full answer...
I have added a link near the bottom of this page with the instructions for the Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller # C51170. When not connected to a trailer and pressing on the brakes you should see 2 blue lights flash on each side of the control knob. If you can tell me what you are seeing I can help you to determine what fault you may be having. view full answer...
I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 for your 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. This is my favorite controller as it has an easy to read LCD and is well know for its durability and functionality. You will need to know if you have the new body style or the classic as the wiring for these will be different. On the new body style the wiring is already under the dash but will need to be wired in. On the classic body style there is a connector which you can plug... view full answer...
Yes, the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 will work with your 2024 Tiffin Allegro Bay 38BB. A brake controller like this will work with any motorhome or vehicle that has a 7-way installed. There is no custom wiring harness available so you will have to splice the wires for installation. view full answer...
I would not recommend installing a Diode # RM-690 on the brake line as this is a part which can fail and if it were to you could risk doing a lot of damage. While the Bright Way Push-to-Test ICU Trailer Breakaway Kit # BW94FR could risk damage to your brake controller the breakaway cord should only ever be pulled when the trailer becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle or during testing which you should not be connected during either. If you are connected electronically to the trailer... view full answer...
